Paul Dunbar (1872-1906) paper s 1873-1942 [microform]

Dunbar was born and lived in Dayton, Ohio. One of the first African-American writers to achieve national prominence, his verse and short stories used Southern black dialect. However, he moved away from Black stereotypes in his novels. The collection contains correspondence, legal and financial papers, miscellaneous papers, literary manuscripts, newspaper clippings, and scrapbooks. The original collection is in the Ohio Historical Society. Register available.
